Hmmm. I don’t feel any

Hmmm. I don’t feel any different. This whole birthday thing is overrated. I got a really funky cake from Penguin though - I’ll have to try and take a picture of it.

Since moaning about it the other day, I found that Belkin make a ‘PDA adaptor’ thing, which is a USB-to-serial-without-a-box gizmo. It’s just a ‘fat’ serial cable that presumably shows up as COMx on the PC end. I ordered one of those, and I’ll let you know how well it works. Hurrah!

For the last couple of days my butterfly-like mind has been occupied with the first few levels of the PS2 version of Red Faction, which is fun enough in a HalfLife sort of way. The controls take some getting used to after the PC-FPS standard of cursors+mouse. It has something like a plot, and OK level design. Quite pretty. I never thought I’d say it, but I think I prefer SoF to this, although it depends how violent a mood you’re in really. The Iraq levels of SoF where you have just got the HMG and the bad guys don’t yet are fun. Maybe Deus Ex spoiled me but all of these other things seem really linear after that.

Other things… thinking about a redesign here. Not sure what yet, or how radical exactly, but I want to play with stylesheets again.
